Timothy Cup Racing

Raceway Ministries of California (RMC) began the concept of what is known as Timothy Cup Racing as an outreach ministry for race fans.

They work with local churches to sponsor races as an outreach event. Church kids invite their friends to come decorate a precut NASCAR shaped car body, add wheels and weights, race and hear a Gospel message. Winners at the local events then will race in a semi-finals and there is a finals race at the California Speedway. Winners get Pit Row seats to watch the race.

Your church can either get involved with Timothy Cup racing or just do your own race as a local ministry outreach in your neighborhood. You can reach out to those that wouldn't normally darken the steps of a church, but they will come and watch their kids race, and they get to hear the Gospel message in the process.

You don't have to get expensive trophies, simple prizes would do, so the main cost of the event is the precut car kits. The cars can be a simple wedge design and decorated with markers, stickers or brush on paints.

This would also be a great way to attract kids to Awana and other children's ministries, before the start of the school year.

Why should your race track and setup only see action once a year? God gave you a resource, so use it for His glory!
